I hesitated to read Maeve Binchy’s books in past years because I thought they all would be the same and too sentimental and predictable for me to find them interesting. I have never found any other author who write like her.

To be honest, I can’t believe I even finished this book. I have a really hard time relating quentins maeve binchy main characters that enter into extramarital affairs. Ella Brady first dined at Quentins when she was a poised six-year-old and only child of Tim, who worked for an investment broker, and Barbara, a legal secretary, but in her 20s she met Don Richardson, a handsome financier, noted philanthropist, and married him.


I was finally drawn to her because of my affinity for all things Irish. It’s maybe a bit disjointed but it’s split into different parts so you mmaeve know who’s speaking. It is hard to read these stories of love, failure, betrayal and success without wiping a ginchy from the most qjentins eye.
